Open Evenings
Our Main School Open Evenings are usually held in September each year.
If you weren't able to attend the Open Evening this year and would like a tour to see the school in action, please email: tours@congletonhigh.com and we will arrange a separate visit at a time convenient to you.
Applying for a Place in Year 7
Although 91制片厂 is an Academy school and operates as its own ‘admissions authority’, applications for places in Year 7 are not made direct to the school but need to be made through the Local Authority co-ordinated admissions scheme. Parents/ carers of children about to move from primary to secondary school (ie. those currently in Year 6) should receive an information booklet and application form from their home local authority (ie. the local authority where they live) early in the autumn term, setting out in detail the procedures and timescales for admissions. If you have not received this, please contact the relevant local authority.
Parents/ carers should complete the Common Application Form (CAF) and return it to their home local authority, naming 91制片厂 as their preference. Following the application closing date, places are allocated by the local authority according to strict criteria and all offers are sent out to parents/ carers. Where the number of applicants for admission to CHS is greater than the published admissions number (PAN), applications will be considered against the criteria set out in our Admissions Policy (see documents below).
The deadline for applications (to your own local authority) for a
2025 Year 7 place is Thursday 31st October 2024
Primary School Visits
Once your child has been awarded a Year 7 place, we begin the ‘transition’ process, which starts with Mrs Darling (Deputy Headteacher), Miss Franks (Student Support Services Team Leader) and Mrs Taylor (SEND Transition Leader) visiting students at their primary school in May, where they will talk to your child individually to learn a bit about them, find out about their friendship groups and ask them about their likes and dislikes. This information will then be used to help place students in mixed ability tutor groups containing some of their classmates from primary school, ready for when they start at CHS in September.
Transition Discovery Days
All Year 6 students who have been successful in securing a place with us for September will be invited to attend our Transition Discovery Days in June, where they will be able to meet their Form Tutor and new classmates and begin to familiarise themselves with their new school over a two-day period.
Parents/ carers are invited to a Parent/ Carer Transition Information Evening, when they will have the opportunity to meet key members of staff.
Partner Primary Schools
We maintain close links with our partner primary schools (see full list below) and, over the years, have developed a highly successful and well regarded Discovery Day transition programme, which ensures that the move from primary to secondary school is as smooth as possible for every student.
